Brockport’s Andrews a true 2017 NFL Prospect

Dan Andrews

We’ve all saw talented Division 3 football players the last few seasons fulfill their dreams of playing at the next level in the NFL. As the 2016 prospects continue to fight for roster spots, Brockport standout Dan Andrews headlines a talented 2017 class as he prepares for another record-breaking season.

Last season the running back gained national attention early in the season when he rushed for 13 touchdowns in just 4 games to give him the #1 spot in the country. He finished his junior campaign with 1390 rushing yards while adding an impressive single season school record of 24 rushing touchdowns. He was named the Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Year, a unanimous decision after being the national scoring leader with an average of 15.6 points scored per game. Andrews was also named 1st Team All-East Region. Perhaps his most dominating performance came last season in a crucial conference matchup at home versus sleeper Morrisville State. Andrews left the Mustang defense speechless rushing for 166 yards on 27 attempts and 5 Touchdowns in a 49-42 comeback win for the Golden Eagles.

Listed at 6-foot 197 pounds, Andrews is a dual threat in the backfield. He’s one of the most feared backs in the country due to his elusiveness combined with quickness and possesses excellent vision carrying the ball downfield. He also demonstrates great receiving abilities in the backfield as a pass catcher making him a huge threat on HB Screen Passes and other option plays. He currently sits 2nd in Brockport’s rushing record book with 44 career rushing touchdowns and has ammased 3,732 yards so far. Dan Andrews finds himself sitting in a very good spot entering his last season for the Golden Eagles. Expect this talented running back to repeat as Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Year as well as 1st Team All-East Region and add All-American honors next to his decorated career highlights. We can only imagine the training Andrews is doing this offseason…
